The Mughal Ruler Aurangzeb ,has been described as ''a great religious pious Muslim Emperor ,a simpleton who had no vices as he followed a strict Islam'' by UP and UPA text books .Today we read the news that Rs. 20 million Zaziya tax was paid by Sikhs living since centuries in Orakzai agency in FATA area of Pakistan..I think the great ruler's soul and his supporters all Over the sub continent would be smirking with approval of this rise of 'TRUE' Islamic rule again.This happenned as Pakistan state failed to give any protection of any kind of humane law to its Minorities.Here we in India are appointing a muslim lawyer ,with a written plea to Pakistan to appoint even a Pakistani lawyer ,for the mass murderer,A Kasab,a terrorist of Mumbai mayhem!!
Those amongst us all who ignore the rise of Radical Islam in Pakistan and in parts of India,Asia and UK ,and believe in 'GOOD TALIBAN' concept should wake up and take notice of such gross harrassment of minorities under a Muslim majority ''rule'' anywhere in the world,even in a districts or a towns,villages anywhere even in parts of India.
All of us know that there is no true religious freedom for any of the minorities in many parts of the GULF and Kingdom of Saud and our own envoys -many of them Muslims too are silent against many cases of gross injustice perpetrated on Indians there by the authorities their under garb of Islamic laws only due to pressure of petro dollar and job loss !
We all go on defending any tenet in any field implemented or defended by Radical Islam as a part of their ''culture'' even in our own Country forgetting that many times it is wrong and inhumane by any other standards any where else on the world.They disallow any changes in the common humane civic laws under garb of religion too.Many of their tenets,like anti family planning,anti women ,anti humane criminal civic laws may not stand modern humane basic rights today and many tryly humane pious Muslims and their leaders too should join hands to implement the relevant and humane interpretation of the law of the Faith they practice with Great discipline,brotherhood and intensity.
I would love to hear loud voices of protests from our own secular media and muslim Indian-Pakistani leaders ,against this inhumane tax a 'Zaziya' -- a black mail to let live -- levied on Sikhs a minority under a 'Islamic ' rule there.
I would like to hear protests even from radical Sikhs from across the border and in UK and Canada amny of whom who even still support a 'Khalistan' , to speak out with any guts against this injustice to our brethren Sikhs living in ' Islamic state of Pakistan'.
Those of us who ignore such signals would have to carry the burden of the disaster for the sub continent and world in general as more and more pious common Muslims all over the world are sucked into a vortex of following some radical ,medevial, irrelevant anti humane tenets under garb of religion by the few who do not know at all what a Religion is for .
Muslims all over could hold high the dignity of their Faith without harming the weak, innocents, women and minorities under their 'rule '.

Sikhs in Pakistan pay 20 mn to Taliban as jazia

Pakistan's Sikh community has been forced to pay Rs 20 million as jazia (religious tax) to the Taliban so as to return to their homes and resume business, a newspaper said on Thursday.
The minority Sikh community on Wednesday met the Taliban demand in return for "protection" in Orakzai Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, the Daily Times reported.

The Taliban then released Sikh leader Sardar Saiwang Singh and vacated the community's houses. The militia announced that the Sikhs were now free to live anywhere in the area.

"They also announced protection for the Sikh community, saying no one would harm them after they paid jazia. Sikhs who had left the agency would now return to their houses and resume business," an official said.

Mega blood donation camp today at Anandpur Sahib

The Sikh holy town of Anandpur Sahib in Punjab will witness one of the biggest blood donation camps in the world March 10 during the Hola Mohalla celebrations at the Sikh shrine of Keshgarh Sahib, 90 km from here.

The blood donation camp, in which over 25,000 units of blood are being targeted for collection within 24 hours, is being organised jointly by the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikh religion, the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Akal Purakh ki Fauj (Army of the Almighty).

The blood donation camp itself will be organised on the campus of the Khalsa College at Anandpur Sahib, an SGPC official said here. "The camp will help overcome the wrong notions about blood donation," he added.

He said that the Guinness Book of World Records has been invited for the historic and biggest-ever blood donation camp.

Sikhs and people from other communities are expected to arrive here from all over India and Punjab to participate in the festival and donate blood. Up to one million devotees are expected to come for the Hola Mohalla celebrations.

The annual Hola Mohalla festival is observed by the Sikh community at Anandpur Sahib to coincide with the Hindu festival of colours, Holi.

Hola Mohalla is famous for its colourful celebrations and the traditional valour and display of acrobatic martial art by the 'Nihang' (traditional warrior Sikh sect) community. During the festival, the Nihangs are divided into two camps, 'Hola' and 'Mohalla' and a mock battle takes place between the two sides.

Tens of thousands of people come to the festival every year in March. Anandpur Sahib is the place where the tenth Sikh Guru (master), Gobind Singh, had founded the 'Khalsa' (The Pure) on April 13, 1699. The modern Sikh religion, known for its bravery, sacrifice and entrepreneurship, derives much of its inspiration from the 'Khalsa Panth'.

AirIndia has started a new flight yesterday between New Delhi and Nanded in view of the ongoing tercentenary celebrations of 'Gurta Gaddi' for the ease of Sikh pilgrims. It is started on temporary basis and fly between Oct 29th and Nov 6th.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today offered prayers at Sachkhand Gurdwara in Nanded where lakhs of Sikhs are attending the main function of Guru-ta-Gaddi tercentenary celebrations.Amid chants of “Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal”, Dr. Singh offered a golden-coloured sword, saffron jacket and a chadar at the gurudwara where the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, had given the Granth Sahib to Nanded.Dr. Singh was accompanied by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni and Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy. Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and his Punjab counterpart Prakash Singh Badal were also present on the occasion.The occasion is being marked to celebrate 300 years of declaration of Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of Sikhs, as the perpetual Guru in 1708 by Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th master of Sikhs.A large number of Sikhs from America and Europe are also participating in the congregation.“All the batches of Sikh Dharma International consisting of 60 people have come to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Guru Granth Sahib. All these Americans have come with lot of devotion. Nanded hosts a million Sikhs; Devotion takes over all emotions

THREE HUNDRED YEARS ago, the Master knew the world will have little choice but to beat the door to this little, sleepy town. Such is the power of the True Word. Three hundred years ago, the tenth Sikh Master, Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, bestowed Guruship upon the Granth. Faith is now moving mountains. A million have converged already upon this town, all decked up in honour of the spirit of religion. And the reigning slogan is Guru Maneyo Granth.
The Ganga flowed calmly near Patna where Guru Gobind Singh Ji had taken birth. This week many are finding their way to where the great wave found confluence with the swirling waters of Godavari.
And hundreds of thousands on Monday lined along the banks of the river, ferrying gallons of water, adding it to the sacred waters of the ancient 'bauli' inside the Takht Abchal Nagar Huzur Sahib Complex complex. In such a way is the Takht Sahib being readied for the greatest of the occasions, the tercentenary of the Guruship of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
'Takht Ishnaan', an annual feature performed once a year on the Diwali eve, attracts impressive crowds, but on Monday, the number of pilgrims crossed all old records. They did not leave an inch of space along the 1.5 km walk from the banks of Godavari near the historic Gurdwara Nagina Ghat to the main gurdwara complex of Sachkhand sahib. Conservative estimates put the number of devout this morning at around 60,000 plus, including thousands coming from abroad to especially take part in this ceremony.
Shastars of the Guru were also bathed in the water brought so lovingly by the devout.
Jo Bole So Nihal shouts reverberated through the atmosphere, jathas of sangat kept rolling in every minute, and no one dare call the town sleepy anymore. Langars are on round the clock, and a strange convivialness is in the air. No Sikh is passing by the other without hailing out the Gur Fateh and the world is watching with wide eyes the spirit that the Guru imbued the followers with three centuries ago. One does wish that there were more stalls with books, that some one taken upon the sewa of distributing some literature and the SGPC had really showed itself to be the central body of the Sikhs instead of remaining at the periphery of most celebrations. But what was admirable was the absence of unnecessary and avoidable controversy over supremacy of the Granth.
The inviting gold-gilded domes were being given a bath and karsewa volunteers precariously hung from the ropes in their efforts to carry out the task with diligence and total reverence and respect. The silver doors of the structure were brought down and cleaned with milk while the golden doors of the sanctum sanctorum were washed from the outside. The area behind the golden doors was accessible only to the Jathedar of the Takht Hazoor sahib, Giani Kulwant Singh, who dressed in bright saffron and yellow robes, scrubbed the place clean.
Outside, there was a unique opportunity for the devouts to have a close look at the 3,000 odd 'shastar' (weapons), including the bows and arrows and wooden, hand crafted guns, belonging to Guru Gobind Singh, and which were brought out on Monday morning before the cleaning ceremony of the Takht. All the while, a huge 'nagara' (Drum) beat inside the gurdwara, in tune with the enthusiasm of those taking part in the seva.
One’s heart goes out to the shradhha displayed by the devout. Old men and women were carefully carrying along the water trickling down the doors, walls and windows after washing and safely carried it away. And there were those who were rushing to seal the bottles because they planned to send it abroad to their relatives, a wish that underlines the immigrant’s pain that he carries despite all success in foreign lands.

The tradition of Takhat Snan and deepmala was started about 200 years back by the locals. They carried water from the Godavari in pitchers to bathe the holy place and the arms.
Baba Hardayal Singh, known as Ghaghariya Singh, starts the process by drawing the first pitcher from the river. Another tradition of performing the Aarti besides the Ardas on the river banks after the first pitcher is drawn was instituted four years back by Clean Godavari activists led by Ravinder Singh Modi, a local journalist.
Tuesday night saw the gurdwara precincts all decorated with lights as the rest of the India celebrated Diwali. It was here that the Guru gave the source of permanent light to the community, and every single diya being lit up was a gesture of thanks to the Master.
India’s PM Manmohan Singh will be paying obeisance at the bhog on October 30.
As a city, Nanded residents can hardly recognize it any more. Overflowing with devouts, it has seen so much development that the residents are grateful to the Sikh community.
It was an interesting sight to see the milk was sprayed from a fire-tender on the gurdwara as part of the activity.
A large number of saints who have come from the US, the UK, Germany, Canada and various parts of the country also converged on the banks of the Godavri. The Maharashtra government and the management of Takht Hazur Sahib had made special security arrangements and divers of the Army were also deployed.

Kingfisher announces Mumbai Nanded flight

Kingfisher Airlines will start operating its first flight to Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Airport, Nanded and Latur from Monday, October 6, 2008. The flight (Kingfisher IT 2415) will take off from Mumbai thrice a week and extend to Latur. Fare per passenger will be around Rs. 3880 for both destinations.

The flight will start from Mumbai at 6 am and arrive in Nanded at 7:20 am. It will take off for Latur after 30 minutes and touch down in half an hour. The flight will proceed for Mumbai at 8:45 am and land at 10:10 am. The flights will operate Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Badal largesse for Patiala

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today presided over a series of sangat darshan programmes at various places and announced plans for the development of the city, which till yet has been considered the fiefdom of former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.

Badal announced that Rs 8.5 crore would be spent to provide free domestic electricity connections to the economically weaker sections for one bulb, including installation of meter, the charges of which would be borne by the PSEB. Besides, Rs 5 crore would be spent on the upgrade and beautification of the parks in Patiala. Badal also announced Rs 50 lakh for the development of the local police lines. He added that a grant of Rs 117 crore had been sanctioned for the development of power infrastructure in the city. Three new grid sub-stations would be established here.

The Chief Minister said various special schemes had been drawn up for the welfare of the residents. Government’s technical adviser B.S. Dhaliwal would be visiting the city tomorrow to give a concrete shape to these schemes.

Regarding the complaints related with the issuing of Blue Cards under the Atta-Dal scheme, Badal announced that a fresh survey would be conducted soon by organising camps at the ward level.

Badal said a similar survey for old-age pension beneficiaries and those of other social schemes would be conducted soon.

Taking potshots at Capt Amarinder Singh on his home turf, Badal reminded the gathering that the previous Congress government had spent nearly Rs 200 crore on the city but still its drainage facilities were woefully inadequate.

The Chief Minister said since Capt Amarinder had done nothing for the welfare of the people of this city, he was now “adopting Patiala” and from now onwards the city would not be discriminated against”.

The roads of the city were in bad shape. Capt Amarinder Singh had actually done nothing concrete for the city in the five years of his rule. From now onwards, there would no paucity of funds for the development of the city, Badal added.

On the former Chief Minister having gone to the UK in the wake of a Vigilance case slapped on him, Badal said it was the duty of the law-enforcing agencies to arrest Capt Amarinder Singh.

He and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal were facing cases during the stint of Capt Amarinder Singh as Chief Minister, but he had never even thought of fleeing to places like London or Dubai.

Vedanti removed from his post

AMRITSAR: In a development that has unleashed a storm in the Sikh community, Akal Takht jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti quit his post in the highest Sikh temporal body on Tuesday, claiming he did it under duress. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), however, quickly refuted the charge and said Vedanti had quit on his own. “He had cited ill-health as the reason for resignation,” SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar said. “The committee has accepted the jathedar’s letter and appointed Sri Harmandir Sahib head granthi Giani Gurbachan Singh as the acting jathedar of Akal Takht. The new jathedar will join office from August 7.” Sticking to his guns, an angry Vedanti said the SGPC general secretary, Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, and executive member Rajinder Singh Mehta had visited his residence the night before and asked him to put in his papers. His personal assistant Prithipal Singh went on to say that the visitors had expressed their helplessness in the matter and maintained it was Makkar’s orders. What may, however, have precipitated the latest crisis clouding the Akal Takht is the recent displeasure articulated by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal after Vedanti was heard praising prime minister Manmohan Singh, a fellow Sikh, just ahead of the trust vote on the Indo-US nuclear deal in Parliament. “Jathedars should not be getting involved in political matters,” a miffed Badal had said. “Although, I am in no position to say anything to the Akal Takht jathedar, I think he should not be getting into such things.” Vedanti had apparently gone further and said, “Dr Manmohan Singh is a kind man and Sikhs should be supporting him.” This had come at a time when a section of the Sikh diaspora had demand that fellow community members support the PM on the nuke deal. The jathedar’s removal triggered a swift reaction within hours of the announcement from Sikhs both in India and across the world, many of whom reacted with concern and cynicism. Terming it “an unfortunate practice”, veteran Akali leader Manjit Singh Calcutta said, “SAD(B) has been removing high priests since 1999”. He alleged that the chief minister was using the influence of Takht as well as Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission to promote vested interests.

SANT SAMAJ TO DECIDE NEXT COURSE OF ACTION ON 30TH JULY 2008

ALL PANTHIC SIKH GROUPS TO SHARE VIEWS AND WORK TOGETHER

The Gurmat Sidhant Parchaarak Sant Samaj has said the Government of India should arrest the Dera head without further delay, otherwise the situation might go out of control for which only they would be fully responsible.

Sant Samaj had given the call for Punjab Bandh in which more or less all active Sikh groups joined to work together, including the SGPC. Sant Samaj has said only normal traffic was to be blocked, but it was unrest among the people which took them to rail tracks to block traffic.

The Sant Samaj, which is playing the leading role in this agitation and encouraging protests against Gurmeet Ram Rahim, announced that the next course of action will be decided at Gurdwara Gian Parkash in Jawaddi Kalan on Wednesday 30th July 2008. The Central, Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra Governments have failed to act till date.

Leaders of all Sikh organisations have been called to share their views regarding the current situation and to work together to seek the arrest of Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

Singh is king , UPA win vote of trust

The government won the Trust vote polling 275 in favour vis-a-vis 256. The voting was both automated and manual, to remove any chance of error. The Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi were immediately surrounded by a galaxy of members eager to extend their congratulations to them.Earlier, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh began his speech expressing “profound sadness” at the proceedings. He also promised that whoever was responsible in the bribery case would be dealt with, according to law of the land.But refusing to let the Prime Minister make the concluding speech before moving the confidence motion, the Opposition members reached the Well of the House chanting slogans. They demanded that the Prime Minister step down immediately taking responsibility for unfair means adopted to garner votes.The Prime Minister was then forced to submit his speech as a statement.The Prime Minister was forced to seek a confidence vote when the Left withdrew support on July 08 on the issue of nuclear deal. The PM at that time was in Japan for the G 8 summit. Immediately after his return, he approached the President and sought the floor test.The Prime Minister was determined to go ahead with the Indo-US civil nuclear agreement, while the Left are dead opposed to it.

Shaheedi Bhai Taru Singh Ji

waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh,
Zakriya Khan was carrying on a cruel, all-out campaign against the Khalsa. Hence, all daring and desperate Sikhs had gone away to places where the Mughal armies dared not to trouble them. So they had become out of the reach of the government. However, in several small villages there yet lived some gentle, harmless Sikhs. They were peaceful and peace loving by nature. daring military adventures were against their natures. They were averse to active clashes with the government. They wanted to live and work in peace. They kept themselves engaged in peaceful pursuits. At the same time, they practiced the main principles of life taught by their Gurus. They earned their living by honest labor; they shared their honest earnings with those in need, irrespective of cast or creed; they recited Gurbani and kept meditating on God. They were friends and helpers of all who needed help. Such persons were loved and honored by their neighbors; yes; even by their Muslim neighbors. One such Sikh was Bhai Taru Singh. He was a Jat living in Poola, a small village in the present district of Amritsar. He was a young man of 25. He was very gentle, kind hearted and pious. He loved a peaceful life. He enjoyed helping and serving those who needed his services and help. He loved all and he was loved by honored by all.
As we have seen, most of the daring, adventurous Sikhs had been driven from their homes. They lived in forests. One such place was Baba Buddha's Bir. It was quite near Bhai Taru Singh's village. Bhai Taru Singh took special pains to serve these exiled brethren of his. He cultivated his fields. Most of what he produced was offered to those whom the iron rule had driven into the wilderness. His aged mother and youthful sister were gentle and pious like him. They took delight in assisting him in every way. What they did for their exiled brethren was this. The two ladies ground the grain and baked cakes of bread. Usually, the cakes were made of a mixture of wheat and gram flour, salted and spiced. At night, Bhai Taru Singh took a basketful of them into the jungle nearby. He also carried a bucketful of milk. His exiled brethren used to be waiting for him. He distributed the cakes and milk among them. He used to sit and talk with them during a good part of the night. Sometimes, he happened to have learnt of some fresh government move against them. He warned them of it.
This went on for some years. As already mentioned one particular vile, mean enemy of the Khalsa. He was Harbhagat of Jandiala. He was ever at pans to harm the Sikhs. He found out about the work being done by Bhai Taru Singh. He was cut to the quick to hear that Bhai Taru Singh was very popular with his neighbors, even with his Muhammadan neighbors. He decided to put an end to Bhai Taru Singh's life and activities. So determined he went to Zakriya Khan. he said to him, 'In a small village named Poola, there lives a dangerous rebel Sikh. His name is Taru Singh. He has the outward garb of a gentle, innocent, peace loving man of religion. But really, he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He is a friend and helper of thieves and dacoits. He helps and shelter men of bad character. He also supplies milk and food to Sikhs living in the jungles. Your orders are that nobody should help or harbor these outlaws. He does both. He thus disobeys your orders. He is a dangerous rebel. He should be hauled up and punished. Zakriya Khan rewarded Harbhagat for this useful information. He sent a body of armed men to arrest Bhai Taru Singh and bring him to Lahore. His men went to posthaste to Poola. They arrested Bhai Taru Singh and he was taken to Lahore. There he was put in prison. In the prison he was subjected to severe, inhuman tortures for many days. He was asked to embrace Islam and get his hair cut. He was told, 'If you do that, you will be given in marriage a beautiful damsel of high Mughal family. You will be given riches and high position. You will lead a life of happiness and pleasure. If you refuse, you hair will be forcibly cut, you will be subjected to still severer tortures.'
'Finally, you will beheaded or broken on the wheel. Be well advised. Don't throw away your life and all that it can offer you.' Bhai Taru Singh firmly and defiantly refused to give up his faith. He said, 'Even if I were offered kingship of the whole world, even if all the beauties of Paradise were offered to me as my personal servants, even if the treasure of the entire world were placed at my feet, I would not give up my religion. It is far more precious and dear than all these. I would not let my hair be cut, not even a single hair. I am prepared to die. May God and the Guru let me die with my hair all intact.' Zakriya Khan said, 'Your God and Guru are powerless here. I am here to grant your prayer. Your hair shall not be cut. It will remain intact. Your scalp along with the hair shall be scraped off. What do you say to that ?' Bhai Taru Singh replied, 'That will be very good of you, indeed. Kill me in any manner that you like. Be quick. I am eager to join my martyred brethren at the feet of the Almighty and All-loving Father of all.'
Zakriya Khan gave the orders. Bhai Taru Singh was taken to the Nakhas, outside the Delhi gate. Thousands had been butchered there in the near past. A shoemaker was ordered to scrape off Bhai Taru Singh's scalp. Bhai Taru Singh stood the ordeal bravely. He went on reciting Japji and repeating the name of God. The scalp with the hair intact was scraped off. It was thrown before him. He bowed, and thanked God and the Guru. He was thankful that his hair had not been cut. After that, he was taken back to the prison. The tortures were repeated. After a few days he let his soul fly from his body and go to the feet of the All-loving Father. This happened on the 1st of July 1745. His torturer, Zakriya Khan, had died a few hours before him, after having borne intense suffering. He had an attack of kidney pain. He could not pass urine. His abdomen swelled up till breathing became difficult. In this hour of terrible suffering, he thought within himself, 'I have put a saintly, innocent person to horrible tortures. May be my agony is due to that act of mine.' He sent a messenger to Bhai Taru Singh, asking for forgiveness. Bhai Taru Singh said, 'I have no ill-will against him. All happens as willed by God. As far as I am concerned, he is forgiven. But he will have to render an account of his doings. The inmates of hell are waiting to welcome him.'
As soon as these words were spoken, Zakriya Khan was able to pass urine. His abdomen subsided. His pain was gone. But he died a few hours before Bhai Taru Singh's soul was released from his body.
